About

New Vista School is a grade 6-12 independent school centrally located in Orange County, California, dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing educational environment while serving the needs of students with Asperger Syndrome, high-functioning Autism, and others who may benefit from small class size, individualized programs, and social skills development. In a caring environment, we foster academic achievement and independence through knowledge, self-advocacy, and student success. Our accredited high school diploma programs, integrated with opportunities to develop social skills, are designed to prepare students to be independent young adults. Our two academic programs flow through the middle school and high school grades and lead to a high school diploma. Curriculum is based on the California Standards and is molded to meet the needs of New Vista School students at every level. Curriculum is geared to develop and strengthen our students’ communication, problem solving, and decision making skills so they can successfully navigate through life. For students geared towards furthering their education beyond high school, students have the opportunity to expand their intellectual achievements in college preparatory course work. Our life skills transition program opens new doors for students looking for a vocational career after high school. Our focus is to provide a functional curriculum that helps each of the students develop self-determination skills functional academics. New Vista School students do not have to pass high stakes state testing to receive their high school diploma. Instead, students are provided with avenues to challenge their minds and prepare them for their adult lives while supported and nurtured by professionals, parents, and educators who seek only the best for each child.
