Welcome to New Vista!

My personal goal for every child who enters New Vista School is to find a safe environment where they may have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and develop their social skills. New Vista School is a 6th - 12th grade school which has been established to meet these goals. Addressing the unique needs of children who are on the high-functioning autism spectrum and who have been diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome along with children who benefit from small class size instruction and in need of social skills development, New Vista School faculty work closely with professionals and families to create a successful educational experience.

Children at New Vista find a warm and welcoming environment. For some, this is the first time that they are being understood by their teachers and have classmates that understand them as well. The New Vista School staff is made up of a group of dedicated professionals who are first passionate about teaching children, and secondly, are passionate about teaching their individual subject content and specialty areas. The staff is a cohesive group which utilizes one another’s gifts and talents to target the needs of every child in their classroom.

Program development and implementation is a significant part of the the 08-09 school year. As New Vista School launches its 08-09 school year, we are excited about the on-going development and implementation of our Reading, Transition, Language, and Social Skills Programs. As these programs traverse one another and are embedded within the school’s curriculum, students have the potential of taking these skills to real life experiences. Students are provided with not only support and guidance with skill development within the classroom, but opportunities outside of the classroom which transform into real life opportunities.

Our three boards play a vital role to NVS growth. Our Board of Directors is comprised of professionals in the special education field along with business people who volunteer their time to share their expertise and knowledge. New Vista School’s Advisory Board is an outstanding group of medical and psychological professionals who are regarded as experts in the field of Autism, Asperger Syndrome, and other special needs. Our school is also supported by our Foundation Board whose members are past and present parents along with business professionals dedicated to New Vista School’s capital growth and funding which is needed to support our school’s development.

Although teachers play a key role, parents provide great insight. No one can replace their knowledge. Both staff and parents, and often students, work as a team. It is the hope in combining both home and school knowledge a unique support system for every child can be designed so a student will find a consistent link between school and home. Communication is a significant part of making this happen. Due to our small school setting, teachers and parents interact often both in person, by phone, and via the internet.

If you are looking for a unique and special community for your child to learn and grow, I would like to encourage you to contact New Vista School. For those of you already a part of our family, thank you for the opportunity to serve your child and for sharing your child with us.
