The first weekly progress updates were emailed. You should find updated grades on participation, homework and the various reading programs. These will be emailed to parents on a weekly basis.

Book Fair Reminder

Students are making class visits to the book fair this week. They will be sharing their book fair wish lists with parents. The book fair will be open in the New Vista School Cafe until Friday, September 16th at noon. It will also be open during Back to School Night. Please feel free to drop by. A percentage of the proceeds benefit the school.

Homework

Reading Lab homework begins this week. A packet will go home today and will be due on Friday, 9/15/08. Students are to read the story and answer comprehension questions. Answers may be typed out instead of hand written. Please notify the reading program specialist with any questions or concerns you may have.

Homework for reading lab students will begin next week. During the first couple of weeks, students are focusing on getting accustomed to their reading lab routines and classroom procedures.

Reminder: Questionnaires due Friday

Please send the completed parent and student questionnaires to school with your child by Friday, September 4. This information will allow the reading lab teachers to continue to develop appropriate reading plans for your child. Please email Claire Camaya with any questions you may have.

Welcome back!

Welcome back to the reading lab! The reading lab has undergone some exciting changes, including moving to a larger classroom and the addition of more computers.

If you weren’t able to make it to open house, I will send home a welcome packet. It will include a welcome letter, supply list, as well as parent and student surveys to be completed and turned in. Please look it over and email me if you have any questions or concerns. Students who have not already checked out their books will be doing so on the first day of class.
