World literature is a general survey of literature from around the world throughout history. Its emphasis is on critical thinking, reading, and writing. Students use a core text to study short stories, epic poetry, fiction and non-fiction, and Shakespeare. Emphasis is placed on an autobiographical writing project in which they will gain a greater understanding of both themselves and the finer points of writing. Students will participate in interactive discussions, small group work, semi-independent projects, and individual work. Students will demonstrate their knowledge and comprehension of texts and writing skills through quizzes, tests, projects, and essays, and homework. Placement: Per Teacher recommendation and/or passing of English 3B.</p>
