Course Description

English 2: Survey of Literature Grades 9 - 12 (Full Year )
Students use a core text to study short stories, heroes in literature, mythology, fiction, and a novel to gain an appreciation and understanding of themselves and their social skill development. Emphasis is on their understanding of core reading themes and generalizing these concepts to the world around them. Stress is also placed on their developing writing skills. Students will participate in small group work, large group work, semi-independent projects, individual work, and interactive discussions. Students will demonstrate their knowledge and comprehension of texts and writing skills through quizzes, tests, projects, essays, and homework. Placement: Per Teacher recommendation and/or passing of English 1.
