English 3 is a chronological study of American literature through themes reflecting important aspects of the American character. Students will be reading selections from a variety of American writers. In addition, students will read essays, journals, stories, and novels that describe the philosophies, morals, and the life styles of people who lived before us. Through reading these writings students will grasp a better understanding of ourselves, social skills, and our country. Students will participate in interactive lectures, small group work, large group work, semi-independent projects, and individual work. Students will demonstrate their knowledge and comprehension of texts and writing skills through quizzes, tests, projects, and essays, and homework. Placement:  Per Teacher Recommendation</p>
