Admissions

New Vista School has a rolling admissions process. As children grow and transition into new schools and programs, sometimes another option needs to be considered. In order to make a well educated decision as to your child’s educational experiences, New Vista School has implemented an effective admissions policy to assure appropriate placements for your child.

Our Admissions process is designed to help us get to know your child and to allow you to become familiar with our school. Throughout the admissions process these steps will provide both family and staff the opportunity to determine if New Vista is a positive fit for your child.

Our process includes an in person parent(s) interview and tour with our director. New Vista School would like to engage you in an opportunity to share the road you have traveled thus far in your child’s education along with your concerns and needs in a confidential setting.

The admission process also includes the submission of an application along with documents which will guide the admissions committee in formulating a decision. (See the application below for further details.)

The admissions committee, comprised of the director and select staff members, will review the information you provide us. If it is determined that New Vista School may be an appropriate school setting for your child, one to two options will be offered to you depending upon the time of the school year:

1. For students entering for the first time in September, your child may be accepted with a provisional 30 – 60 day probation period. With the start of a new school year, all students are adjusting to a new routine as are teachers. Additional time is needed for adjustments from summer vacations and a routine to be established.

2. During the remaining months of the school year, we would like to invite your child to visit with us for 3 – 5 days. This will provide your child with a first-hand experience of New Vista School. During this time, he/she will interact with peers and experience classroom expectations. Our staff will also have the opportunity to observe and interact with your child.

Following the school visit, staff observations are collected and shared with the admissions committee. Once the admissions committee has reached a decision you will be notified by mail and/or via a phone call as to whether or not your child will be admitted to New Vista School.

There are times when additional support for your child may be requested along with the acceptance letter. Probationary period, a support plan, or an aide may be requested. These tools are sometimes needed in order to assure a smooth transition and to provide your child with the support they need in order to find success at New Vista School.

Please feel free to contact the director if you have further questions. We are more than happy to send you an application or you may download the copy below.
